About the Target Receipt Template

A Target receipt is the printed record of a store transaction — the department, the itemized lines with tax flags, the subtotal and tax, the total, how it was paid, and the Target Circle savings and rewards lines. This template reproduces that layout section by section, and you fill it in with your own store, items, and totals. It is handy for keeping an expense or bookkeeping record, replacing a paper receipt that has faded, or building realistic sample data for design and software testing. Every value shown below is an editable example, not a real transaction.

Store header

The receipt opens with the store name and contact over its address and a timestamp — for example Chicago North - 685-234-6341, South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60605-4324, 10/10/2026 09:43 PM. Each field is yours to set.

Barcode and department

A CODE128 barcode sits near the top, encoding a lookup value such as IAP KS%L3X8, followed by a department heading like GROCERY that groups the lines beneath it. Edit the barcode data or the department name as needed.

Item lines

Items print in four columns — an item ID, the item name, a price flag, and the line total — with a tax or type letter tucked in, such as B. The sample lists ANGUS BEEF at $19.89, KIMCHI at $7.34, GG OATMILK at $4.12, a KETCHUP line noting 2 @ $2.35 ea, Regular Price 3.12 at $4.70, and SOUP at $4.98. Any line can carry an extra note for a multi-buy or a sale price, and you can add as many lines as you need.

Totals and tax

The totals block stacks the subtotal, a tax line showing its rate, and the total, then the tender — SUBTOTAL $41.12, B = TN TAX 5.7500 on $41.12 = $2.36, TOTAL $43.48, *5521 VISA CHARGE $43.48. The rate and tender are editable.

Payment block

When the sale is paid by card, a short authorization block follows with the network and codes — AID: A000000012412312, AUTH CODE: 345345345, VISA CREDIT. Switch it to cash and this block simply drops away.

Circle rewards and savings footer

The foot of the receipt carries the loyalty lines a Target slip usually prints: a Target Circle earnings prompt inviting the shopper to open the app or visit the Circle page, and a highlighted TOTAL SAVINGS THIS TRIP $2.34 line. Any of these can be edited or removed.

A note on responsible use. Receipts you create here are your own documents, meant for records, expense tracking, testing, teaching, and design mockups. Target is a trademark of its owner, used here for identification only; this tool is not affiliated with or endorsed by it. Do not use a generated receipt to misrepresent a purchase that did not happen or to imply endorsement by Target.

Open the Target template, edit any section, and export a print-ready PNG or JPEG. It is free to use; a Pro upgrade removes the watermark.
